Upgrade of Sealing Elements of CO2 Compressor

The sealing elements of a non-lubricated CO2 compressor lasted only 1500 hours. LMF analyzed the problem and extended the lifetime up to 8000 hours.

Customer Challenge:

  • Packing rings as well as piston and rider rings lasted only 1500 hours due to challenging conditions
  • High-pressure non-lubricated CO2 application with contents of fungicides
  • Damaged cylinder liners
  • Extend service intervall

LMF Solution:

  • Root cause analysis of poor results
  • Defined new upgrade material
    Changed from basic PTFE to PPS material
  • New ring design
