Reciprocating High Pressure Compressors

LMF develops and manufactures tailor-made reciprocating high pressure compressor solutions for all gases and gas mixtures except pure oxygen.

Reciprocating compressors are particularly suitable for applications requiring high discharge pressures, reliable operation and flexible adaptation to specific process conditions. Every LMF compressor is individually configured according to the gas composition, required pressure and capacity, operating profile, gas quality, installation environment and applicable project specifications.

Selecting the Appropriate Compressor Solution

The appropriate compressor solution is not determined by one parameter alone. LMF evaluates the complete compression task, including:

  • Gas composition and required gas quality
  • Suction and discharge pressure
  • Required capacity
  • Continuous or intermittent operation
  • Lubrication and sealing requirements
  • Cooling conditions
  • Available installation space
  • Applicable standards and customer specifications

Mechanical arrangement, execution standard, lubrication and cooling are selected according to the individual project requirements.

LMF Reciprocating Compressor Portfolio

V-Type Compressors

Oil-free reciprocating compressors for high pressure air generation in PET bottle production.

The V-shaped cylinder arrangement provides a compact compressor design for the specific capacity and pressure requirements of PET stretch blow-molding systems.

Trunk-Type Compressors

Compact reciprocating compressors for applications requiring comparatively low capacities and high discharge pressures.

Trunk-Type compressors can be configured for different gases and are used across industrial, energy and infrastructure applications.

ISO 13631 Compressors

Reciprocating compressor solutions engineered for applications and projects based on ISO 13631 requirements.

They are individually configured according to the gas, operating profile, required capacity and project specifications.

API 618 Compressors

Heavy-duty reciprocating compressor solutions for demanding process applications requiring high availability and project-specific execution according to API 618.

API 618 compressors are typically used for continuous operation in the oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, energy and hydrogen industries.

LMF Standard Compressors

Application-specific reciprocating compressors based on proven LMF designs and engineering standards.

They provide a flexible solution for projects that do not require execution according to ISO 13631 or API 618 while still being individually configured for the gas, process and operating conditions.

Individually Configured for Every Application

Depending on the process requirements, LMF reciprocating compressors can be designed as lubricated, non-lubricated or oil-free solutions. Cooling, materials, sealing concepts, cylinder arrangement, driver and control system are selected independently according to the application.

The compressor can be supplied as an individual unit or integrated into a complete skid-mounted, modular, enclosed, containerized or mobile compressor system.

FAQs

A reciprocating compressor uses pistons moving within cylinders to compress a gas. Compression can take place across several stages to achieve the required discharge pressure while controlling gas temperatures and power requirements.
Reciprocating compressors are particularly suitable for applications requiring high discharge pressures, variable pressure ratios, different capacity ranges or application-specific adaptation to the gas and operating conditions.
V-Type and Trunk-Type describe specific mechanical compressor arrangements within the LMF portfolio. ISO 13631 and API 618 define requirements for the design and execution of reciprocating compressor packages. Mechanical arrangement and applicable standard are therefore separate aspects of compressor selection.
No. The applicable standard does not automatically determine the cylinder arrangement, cooling method or lubrication concept. These are selected separately according to the gas, operating conditions and project requirements.
Yes. LMF provides lubricated, non-lubricated and oil-free reciprocating compressor solutions. The appropriate configuration depends on the gas, required purity, operating conditions and application.
Yes. LMF’s scope can range from the compressor itself to a complete package including the driver, cooling system, piping, pressure vessels, instrumentation, controls and other required auxiliaries.
